Our first race weekend was everything we expected and more. Porsche Centre North Toronto’s passion for motorsports quickly became evident from all the internal support received by the team.
Here’s a quick recap on the weekend at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park (Mosport):
In the number 83 car, Maxwell (Max) Tullman, qualified with a lap time of 1:20:681, which landed him in P10 in the Platinum Class. In the number 71 car, Neal Walker, qualified with a lap time of 1:22:051, which placed him in P12 in the Platinum Class.
Race 1 took place under sunny skies on Saturday and proved to be a great first race for Maxwell Tullman. Max was able to move up two positions to finish P8 in the Platinum Class. Neal was having a great race moving up positions quickly, but then he ran into some trouble on turn 5 (a turn drivers constantly had difficulty with all weekend). The positive were that he was unharmed and no damage was done to the car, however this open up a space too big to close and as a result he finished P14 in the Platinum Class.
Race 2 skies were grey, and temperatures were chilly, but the rain held out just long enough for the race to finish. During Race 2 on Sunday the team dealt with technical difficulties in getting the cars to perform the way they had expected them to. The race finished with Max in P10 and Neal in P13 in the Platinum Class.
While the final results were not what the team had strived for, the overall result of the weekend was a very positive one. Porsche Centre North Toronto is thrilled to sponsor Tullman Walker Racing, and even more excited to support them throughout this season. Here’s what TWR had to say about the weekend.
“Great weekend for TWR! Really showed our strength here at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park for our first time being here! Thanks for the support Porsche Centre North Toronto and everyone else that helped us succeed! Off to Montreal in two weeks!” said Max Tullman
Throughout the weekend Steve Tullman would turn to us and say “The fans here are incredible.”
When asked about his thoughts on the weekend, Steve had this to say, “TWR had a great race week at Mosport. Wonderful fans and great racetrack, fast, and furious! The track consumed a few cars during the event, pleased we finished without a scratch on either car. We look forward to returning to Mosport in September.”
Congratulations to all who competed, and we look forward to an exciting season ahead. Next up, F1 weekend in Montreal June 9 – 11.
