A warm welcome to the return of the Naturally Aspirated Flat 6-cylinder 4.0 Litre Boxer engine in the 2021 Cayman & Boxster GTS (Gran Turismo Sport) trim line up.
Whether you are a fan of turbo engines or not there has always been a special place in everyone’s’ heart for the natural aspiration of a flat-six boxer engine going back many decades. Not to mention in a manual transmission to boot. For 2021 Porsche has decided to rejoice this passion of bringing back the high revving, throaty sounding, larger displacement motors in the 718 Cayman & Boxster GTS trims. With a “subtle” powerplant producing 395 German horsepower and 310 lb-ft. of torque from 5,000-6,500rpm, with a redline of 7,800rpm this vehicle is certain to exceed all expectations. We are all anxiously expecting the arrival of this masterpiece sometime towards the end of 2020 or possibly into early 2021.
Starting at $94,500 the vehicle comes equipped with quite the array of standard equipment - 6-speed manual gearbox with dual-mass flywheel, Twin-tract sports exhaust system with two separated tailpipes in Black (high gloss), Sport Chrono Package with Porsche Track Precision App, Porsche Torque Vectoring (PTV) including mechanically locking limited slip differential, Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) with sport chassis (-20mm), 20” 718 Sport alloy wheels in Black Satin, 6-piston aluminium monobloc fixed-caliper brakes at the front and 4-piston aluminium monobloc fixed-caliper brakes at the rear in red to name a few. As you may tell the GTS trim offers an abundance of value for your hard earned monetary tender which makes it one of the best Trim levels in any model for that matter in my humble opinion.
To close off, Porsche has heard the voices of many loyal enthusiasts throughout the globe and have made the sound decision to reintroduce the traditional NA flat-six. Looking forward to experiencing this fine machine on the track in the near future.
